Who am I kidding

I’ve never been able to handle a no strings attached relationship. Friend with benefits, fuck buddies, whatever, I’ve tried them but my emotions get in the way. Almost always. Even when I try to keep it casual, if there’s sex, and if it’s just sex, I just can’t handle it.

The other things I’ve not been able to handle is strictly platonic relationship with guys that I’m really close with or end up getting close to. I’m not talking casual friends you hang out having a beer with once week. I’m talking about the guy that at some point in your life you start depending on for boy advise, for a shoulder to cry on or for getting you home safe after a night of drunken clubbing. He is not your boyfriend (for whatever reasons), but the one you’d call if you got into any car trouble or any trouble at all really.

So, despite knowing all this, I find myself trying to manage a no strings attached, friend with benefit, fuck buddy kinda relationship with Mr. P…..

and against my better judgment, I’ve recently rekindled a kind of tentative friendship with Mr Stupid, someone I’ve failed appallingly at maintaining a strictly platonic relationship with so many, many times before.

Ah well.

Nice blogging. I am THAT man (the person they call but not the BF) to so many girls. That's aa bad thing, isn't it...

I have similar problem. I think I can do it and either I end up having feelings for the guy or getting so bored by them that is just doesn't seem worth the time....

Just because you've failed at something in the past, doesn't mean you can't/won't make it work in the future.

That's what I think. But then, I'm the queen of dysfunction.

Wow...sounds like we are sailing in the same boat! I'm having a fuck buddy situation too. It's obvious we care about one another, but he has another situation. The sex is too damn good to give up though!

And I've never been good at platonic friendships with guys. They always end up lopsided in the feelings department.

Good luck!

plentymorefish - thanks. and not necessarily a bad thing. i mean girls really do appreciate their close guy friends. and if you do like a girl friend in a non-platonic way, just make some kind of move. life's too short ;) but lets not get into the consequences of that move..haha

kate - exactly! :)

simone - i'm hoping i've learnt something in the past to change the way i behave/feel. but i'm not sure if maybe some people are just wired a certain way, you know..

saneandsingle - thanks for stopping by. i know! that's what i thought when i read your blog! haha..thanks for the luck.probably need it.

oh GOD am completely running headlong towards a fuckbuddy relationship with a friend (Uni Boy, if you've read the blog!). It's happened once before with him, when we snog etc'd , but like a year ago. And now I just have a sense it's going to be a "Just Add Alcohol" situation. Part of me thinks nooooo, don't do it! Part of me thinks... hell yeah!

I just ended a friendship before it got to that stage. He was my go-to guy and unfortunately he couldn't cope with it not going anywhere. Plus i was fed up with him cramping my style in the end haha!!

Your blogging confirms it for me though, that weather you are 22 or nearly 30, it just doesn't get any easier.
